Devlog #1 – Magic, Mayhem and a Little Bit of Code!
Hey everyone! 👋 This is my first devlog for my RPG project, and wow — a lot has changed since the first “hello world” moment. Let's talk spells, systems, and surprises!
🔮 Procedural Magic System (Now with 87% more chaos)
-
Characters can now learn spells based on their class!
-
The first spell you get defines your magical identity.
-
Fire? You're now a Fire Mage.
-
Poison? Well, enjoy coughing on everything.
-
🧠 Spell Memory and Evolution (Because spells grow too)
-
Each spell now has XP and a level.
-
The more you use a spell, the stronger it gets.
-
Yes, your “Tiny Ember” can eventually become “Big Bad Inferno”.
-
🧙 Class-Based Spell Paths
-
A Mage can become a master of Fire, Ice or Shadow, based on what they first learn.
-
But hey, randomness still exists – so you might occasionally learn something weird. (Looking at you, “Healing Barbarian” build.)
🎲 Spell Names Are Wild Now
-
Spells are procedurally named from a pool of magical-sounding words.
-
Say hello to “Frostbite Whisper” or “Echoing Blaze”!
-
-
Every spell feels unique — even if it just burns things. 🔥
🧪 Other Fun Stuff
-
Healing spells! Buffs! Explosions! A touch of necromancy!
-
Every class has its own learning rhythm, so no two journeys are alike.
-
Even your spellbook has personality now.
🗺️ What’s Next?
Next up: enemies that also have spells, dynamic combat events, and probably a few bugs that become features.
Thanks for reading! If you made it this far, you’re legally obligated to name your next spell “Devlog Bolt”. ⚡
Stay weird, stay magical,
— Ricardito
